AN IMPORTANT LETTER FROM OUR FOUNDERS

Tuesday 11/3, 2005 7:30PM ET

Dear Starfisher,

You may be wondering why the updates on ProjectSarfish.org have slowed down lately. It may look like we have not been working hard, but nothing could be further from the truth. In fact, we have been working so hard that we have not had time to keep you updated. We know that is not a good thing and want to improve.

Lately, the problem is that we are working on many animal transports, which always take a lot of time and have tight deadlines. In addition, our “real life” obligations have forced us to choose between putting time into administrative work or into coordinating animal rescue/transports. We have chosen the transport efforts, but that has lead to a decline in communication, which we really regret.

As you know, when we started PS we were able to dedicate most of our time to its mission. We are an all-volunteer group and could dedicate all our time in the beginning, but we all had to return to our jobs that had been put on hold during the onset of this crisis.

We think that one of the reasons why people followed Project Starfish is because we were always updating our website and sharing information. It is imperative that we return to this high-level of communication in order to keep moving forward and helping animals. Rest assured that we are committed to getting back to how things were before.

Now that our apology is out of the way, I would like to invite you to read the latest news section to see updates on what we have been doing these past few weeks. Starfish has been concentrating on transporting dogs and cats from Louisiana to shelters all across the nation. We are near the 500 mark for relocated animals! This has been an enormous effort and a very rewarding one. We have also been treating many dogs for heartworm, a very dangerous and expensive condition to treat.

As the Katrina animals slip from people’s minds, Project Starfish will still be here working on helping the animals left homeless by the storm. We still need your involvement, now more than ever.

Thanks to each and every one of you for your continued support. Please check the site often and bear with us and we ramp up.
