UPDATE FROM MASSACHUSETTSTuesday, 9/20, 8:30PM ETEarlier today I spoke to Carter Luke, Executive Vice
President at the MSPCA-Angell in Boston. Luke is
managing the entire logistical operation for bringing
these animals to Massachusetts and was able to give me
the latest news regarding bringing animals displaced by
Hurricane Katrina to Massachusetts. The news looks good.
According to Luke, a few hundred animals will be arriving in
Massachusetts soon. It is likely that they will be flown
in and housed at a local facility for the required 48
hours before being moved to shelters. Luke could not give
me an exact date, but my impression is these animals will
be arriving in the next week to ten days.
This is where you come in—he requested to use our database of
foster/adoptive homes and volunteers. This effort has taken
time and we appreciate your patience. As soon as we have more
details, we will let you know.
In addition, we want to thank Carter Luke for taking time from his very
busy day to touch base with us.
