I just spoke to Roz at the Conway Area Humane Society in Conway, NH
and I have excellent news. Project Starfish is going to sponsor
two of the dogs from St. Charles Parish in New Orleans that are now
living at CAHS. We originally wanted to sponsor all six that were
rescued by CAHS after Katrina, but four have already been adopted
and the remaining two need extra care.
The even better news is that the CAHS has agreed to dedicate a run at
their shelter to Project Starfish. This means that we can now bring
one dog at a time to New Hampshire and the shelter will help us adopt
them out to you! We will have pictures of the first dog that will be
in the Project Starfish run later today.
You've been waiting for Katrina dogs and here they are! If you are
interested in adopting Gordon or Cash, please call the Conway Area
Shelter at 603-447-5955 ASAP. They can tell you more about the dogs.
Also, email us to let us know you are interested at info@projectstarfish.org.
Gordon is a sweet 10 month old black lab who has chemical burns,
parasites, and ski problems. He has been neutered and tested negative
for heartworms. He is currently on antibiotics and will be perfectly
just fine once his treatment is done. Gordon will need a family who
understands he might need a little extra love to help him as his burns heal.
Cash is a friendly shepherd mix that is heartworm positive. He is being
treated for the heartworm by CAHS's vet and will be heartworm free once
this treatment is over. Cash will need to take heartworm prevention for life.
